Find here the data related to the evolution of the electricity transmission network: creation/renewal of overhead or underground lines, dismantling of existing lines. The evolutions are segmented by voltage level: 400 kV, 225 kV, 90 kV, 63 kV. The map of RTE's main commissionings in 2023 is also presented, as well as the real-time view of flows and the battery connection capacities.

Overhead lines of the transmission network
- Incomplete year
- Preliminary data
Informations and sources
This graph shows changes in the overhead share of the transmission network.
The changes may correspond to :
- the commissioning of new lines
- renewal of existing lines
- removal of existing lines
- corrections corresponding to various regularizations (correction of errors in line length, change of assignment, consignments, etc.).
Underground lines of the transmission network
- Incomplete year
- Preliminary data
Informations and sources
This graph shows changes in the underground portion of the transmission network.
The changes may correspond to :
- the commissioning of new lines
- renewal of existing lines
- dismantling of existing lines
- corrections corresponding to various regularizations (correction of errors in line length, change of assignment, consignments, etc.).
Underground lines of the transmission network

- Preliminary data
Informations and sources
This graph shows changes in the underground portion of the transmission network.
The changes may correspond to :
- the commissioning of new lines
- renewal of existing lines
- dismantling of existing lines

Length of electricity overhead and underground lines
- Incomplete year
- Preliminary data
Informations and sources
France’s electricity transmission system, operated by RTE, includes high-voltage lines operating at voltages of between 63 kV and 400 kV. It is the largest transmission grid in Europe. This grid is constantly evolving, with:
- The creation of new overhead and underground lines;
- The renewal of lines (replacement of conductors);
- The undergrounding of overhead lines;
- The decommissioning of lines.
The chart shows the evolution of the total length of the overhead and underground lines.
