EcoWatt new indicator Low carbon hours

The EcoWatt Low carbon hours indicator forecasts the hours during which France can fully cover its electricity needs without emitting greenhouse gases.

The winter of 2022 showed that the mobilization of the French, businesses, local authorities and public players had a real impact on French electricity consumption, helping to avoid possible blackouts.

Although next winter is looking better in terms of electricity production, the risk remains in the event of a long cold snap, and we need to remain vigilant. We need to keep up our efforts to save energy and delay consumption over the long term. In addition to its warning function, the new version of EcoWatt indicates the hours during which France can fully cover its electricity needs from 100% low carbon French electricity production.
