Electricity prices in 2024
The average annual spot price in France fell significantly in 2024 compared to 2023 and 2022. It returned to a level similar to that seen before the health and energy crises, but was more volatile, with an increase in episodes of low or negative prices.
Spot prices fell across Europe, particularly in countries with largely decarbonised production (e.g. France and Spain, where the decarbonised share exceeded 75%). For the first time since 2011, the average spot price was lower in France than in Germany.
